Washington Head Coach Accepts Blame for Leaving Daniels in Contest Prior to Significant Harm

The Commanders head coach Coach Quinn has admitted he shares a portion of the fault for a serious injury to the team’s signal-caller, Jayden Daniels.

Details of the Harm and Context

Jayden Daniels, who enjoyed among the best rookie campaigns of all time the previous year, sustained a dislocated left elbow in the Sunday loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Even though the quarterback passes with his right arm, the injury has left his campaign uncertain. The condition was serious enough that the TV coverage avoided showing replays and multiple players looked away as he was attended to by medical staff.

Criticism and Coach’s Reaction

Coach Quinn faced scrutiny as many felt Daniels should not have been on the playing surface to begin with. The incident happened in the final period with the Commanders trailing 38-7, rendering a comeback improbable. It is typical in these situations for clubs to put in their backup quarterback to prevent injuries to their starter.

“I get that. I’ve been reflecting about it constantly, too, and, wow, I missed it,” Quinn said of his choice to leave Jayden in the game. “This is 100% my fault.”

Aftermath and Team Outlook

Marcus Mariota will be the team’s primary QB from now on, but he will lead a roster in disarray. Following making the NFC championship game last season behind the rookie’s excellence, the franchise have faced difficulties this season. They also lost defensive back Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on Sunday, and have a number of other key players on the injury list. The Washington squad are three wins and six losses on the season, and it would take a huge turnaround for the club to reach the playoffs.
